Throughout the Presidential campaign, Bernie Sanders galvanized voters with his progressive platform and vision for America. Could Bernie Sanders have beaten Donald Trump? Could he govern the nation according to the precepts of Eugene V. Debs? Probably not. But he’s succeeded in giving us a well-written and entertaining account of a precedent-setting campaign. And that’s no small achievement.

Reading it as a reporter who covered Sanders closely, I felt like a sitcom character who gets beaned on the head and hallucinates an angel — or a talking dog, or a 75-year-old senator from Vermont — spinning lessons about what really matters in life.

The fact that Our Revolution doesn’t contain any real new information should not be a deterrent. In fact, I think Sanders would argue it’s the book’s finest asset—he’s been saying pretty much the same things over and over again since the ‘70s...

This book is a stepping stone to understanding the polarisation and class politics at play in the US, and how an alternative to “Trumpism” for the left is possible, even as it leaves much to be desired in how we can achieve this alternative.

With the publication of Our Revolution, Sanders has reconfirmed that he will continue serving as a leader toward "a future we can believe in." However, he is well aware that he is not a prophet or sage. He emphasizes that the road to a just future is ours to walk in collaboration with each other.
