Put your eyes up here.
Put your eyes on me!

Ms. Roys wants her students to pay attention to her -- and it's hard not to. After all, who could ignore a teacher who wears silly hats and colorful skirts and has a graveyard for used-up pencils? She even believes in magic and ghosts!

In this remarkable collection of lively, funny, poignant poems and miniplays, teacher and poet Kalli Dakos explores the challenges and triumphs that arise in the classroom.

Best of all, Dakos shows us that sometimes it's the unexpected quirks that make us treasure someone all the more. G. Brian Karas's funny and whimsical illustrations bring the poetry to life.

The teacher is a real personality created through the mosaic effect of the poems: she bites her nails, writes poems for her students, and thinks of all the children who have attended the school throughout the decades as benevolent ghosts floating through the building.
