My (evidently) high expectations of this book were certainly met, although maybe I was always going to express this opinion! The plot twisted and turned and kept me hooked throughout the 645 pages of thrills and excitement.

At times believability is stretched...but character motivations and interactions—friendships, romances, and others—are always nuanced and on point, especially as Aelin’s growing maturity offers her new perspectives on old acquaintances. The ending leaves readers poised for the next installment.

Overall I loved this book – one of the reasons is because I was able to relive the world the book is set in and read about the wondrous characters. I encourage you to read this book and the series if you’re thinking about doing so!

Queen of Shadows is vivid, heartbreaking and a warrior in its own right. Saying goodbye to Celaena Sardothien for the final time was difficult, as she is one of the fiercest, baddest YA protagonists on the market, but I am excited for future books...
