The author captures the raw emotions of dealing with a chronic incurable disease in the form of malignant melanoma and the ultimate euthanasia of her golden retriever. Yet, despite being a riveting memoir, she takes it a bit further. The opening chapter hypothesizes about the very origin of the Human Animal Bond. Following the memoir, she reveals some very personal insights into the existence of animal souls and the concept of an afterlife for our own companion animals. The vibrant color photos bring the story to life and enhance the easy flow of the text. Lastly, the inspirational cover photo literally begins by ‘bonding’ the reader with the work.
