Synopsis

The main character in this book is a 26-year old cricket journalist who chucks his job; he leaves the familiarity of his home in Bombay and arrives in Georgetown, Guyana in search of travel among other things. He finds beautiful, decaying wooden houses in Georgetown, coastal sugarcane plantations & becomes intrigued wth the dark rainforest interior. He grows absorbed with the fantastic possibilities of this new place, and ultimately, decides to mount an adventure of his own. His journey will take him beyond Guyanese borders, and he will find a feisty companion named Jan to keep him company. This book has won a number of prizes and recognition from various literary groups.
