Yoshiharu Imaizumi was born in Tokyo in 1940. He built a cabin in the mountains to study and write about wild mammal life. He wrote many prize winning books about nature both in Japan and North America including the 'Seton' series. Jiro Taniguchi was born in Tottori, Japan in 1947. He spent five years as assistant to Kyuta Ishikawa where he learned many of his skills of drawing wild animals before debuting in comics in 1971.
