As long as we, her readers, don’t get too picky about the contents, it appears that Ms. DeGeneres may carry on with her bestselling career as an author of books.

Synopsis

I've experienced a lot the last few years and I have a lot to share. So I hope that you'll take a moment to sit back, relax and enjoy the words I've put together for you in this book. I think you'll find I've left no stone unturned, no door unopened, no window unbroken, no rug unvacuumed, no ivories untickled. What I'm saying is, let us begin, shall we?

Though DeGeneres doesn’t provide many laugh-out-loud moments, her trademark wit and openness shine through.

...she addresses the much-asked question of whether or not she and wife Portia de Rossi will have children (no, but she can tell which end of a baby you feed). Whatever the topic, DeGeneres’s compulsively readable style will appeal to fans old and new.

If she is going to write a book that in no way enhances her career as a talented, intelligent humorist, then she should at least bother to hire some writers to do just that: insert hilarious jokes throughout the manuscript.

I didn't feel like I was getting a true look at what Ellen's life is like, albeit with a humorous bent. I've come to expect a book that's both hilarious, and poignant, and speaks to the trials and tribulations of growing up funny, smart, successful and female. But this book was just funny.

What are missing are personal stories. The result feels less intimate than an episode of her show. Some chapters are so empty generous readers will suspect they’re satirical—Ellen’s spoof on the genre of comedy autobiography.

The book is arranged in very short chapters that jump from one seemingly unrelated topic to another, but it does not feel erratic because the voice is always Ellen’s.

I really like Ellen DeGeneres. And, I liked her first two books. But, I’m afraid she should have stopped at two. Seriously…I’m Kidding just didn’t have enough meat to it. At times, it seemed to lack purpose.

I didn’t really learn much about her. Even when she is talking about what could be a serious or real subject, she frames it in a way that it could be true… it could be half true… it could all be boloney. Really? I just don’t know.

The last chapter really resonated with me, it was all about being positive, being the best “you” possible, treating your neighbours how you would like to be treated, stand tall and believe in yourself and your ideas. YOU COUNT !! YOU ARE WORTHY!!! This chapter was a wonderful way to end her fun, rambling hilarious book.
