The sparks between the couple will just leap off the page at you. They leave nothing unexplored.

Synopsis

The New York Times and USA Today bestseller.

Seven years ago, on the eve of her wedding, Lady Jessica Sheffield witnessed a scene so scandalous she could not erase it from her memory. Shocked, yet strangely titillated, she nevertheless walked down the aisle into a life serene yet unremarkable. But what she kept hidden fueled wildly imaginative and very illicit dreams. . .

Alistair Caulfield ran far from the temptation of the prim debutante--all the way to the West Indies. As a successful merchant, he has little in common with the rakehell youth Jessica once knew. But when newly widowed Jessica steps aboard his ship for a transatlantic passage, seven years' worth of denied pleasures are held in check by nothing more than a few layers of silk--and the certainty that surrender will consume them both. . .

Day creates sympathetic characters and skillfully weaves in some intense subplots about Jess's abusive childhood and her sister's violent husband. The main interest, though, lies in the extensive and graphic love scenes.

The weaving of the two love stories gives each a greater resonance. Happiness hard won is a powerful thing and, in Seven Years to Sin, Ms. Day crafts two tales of true love that, combined, are heart rending and heartfelt.

I'm rather stingy with my 5 rating but this deserved it and more. What an emotional story! Alistair laid himself bare from the very start, not willing to chance Jess turning away after he has her. And he will have her.
