The plot’s attempts to justify Stefano’s actions are flimsy, reverting to cartoonish violence so repetitive that the characters comment on it themselves. Even readers interested in an extreme fantasy rendering of a domination/submission relationship are likely to struggle with the unrelenting misogyny...

Christine Feehan - I live in the beautiful mountains of Lake County, California. I have always loved hiking, camping, rafting and being outdoors. I?ve also been involved in the martial arts for years - I hold a third degree black belt, instruct in a Korean karate system, and have taught self-defense. I am happily married to a romantic man who often inspires me with his thoughtfulness. We have a yours, mine, and ours family, claiming eleven children as our own. I have always written books, forcing my ten sisters to read every word, and now my daughters read and help me edit my manuscripts. It is fun to take all the research I have done on wild animals, raptors, vampires, weather, and volcanoes and put it together with romance.

With little in the way of relationship development or plot, the novel is filled with repetitive descriptions of Stefano’s alpha-male personality. Francesca’s character serves mainly to reflect uncritical appreciation of Stefano’s protectiveness and power. An intriguing twist on paranormal powers dimmed by thin characters and a predictable plot.

...I found that I really, really enjoyed this book. My experience of paranormal romance is limited to The Vampire Diaries, Twilight and the various vampire/werewolf movies from mainstream entertainment, so the Shadow Rider is a breath of fresh air and I must again give praise to the author for a fantastic new breed of superhumans...

Shadow Rider felt like one of her earlier Carpathian books which was good because the newer ones all made me want to burn my kindle. Alpha male- check. Big, nosy, over-involved family- check. Mostly doormat heroine- check. An overabundance of hot sex- check. I got what I was looking for...

I enjoyed reading “Shadow Rider” and wonder what will happen in the next book in the series. I would love the read more about Emmanuelle and the training she had to go through, as well as her situation with Val. Christine Feehan is one of my favorites authors and she always brings me to a new world full of discoveries.
