Synopsis

Gangsters and sharks and the hunt for a serial killer in Depression-era Sydney.

This carefree city by the sea becomes gripped by fear after a record number of bathers are attacked by sharks and a bloody turf war engulfs the underworld.

Meanwhile, in the red light district, the working girls whisper of a killer who stalks the shadows, an unseen and almost supernatural murderer whose victims' bodies are never found.

When a recently captured tiger shark in an aquarium coughs up a severed human arm, tough Scots detective William Gunn catches what will turn out to be the case of his life.

This fast-moving thriller combines love, lust and murder in the heat of an Australian summer. Throw in some ruthless 1930s gangsters with tingling trigger fingers, a fiendish murderer with a strange control over the elements and an onslaught of man-eating sharks and you have a breathless page-turner that will make you think twice before booking that holiday Down Under.
