Synopsis

"You can't touch me," I whisper.

I'm lying, is what I don't tell him.

He can touch me, is what I'll never tell him.

But things happen when people touch me.

Strange things.

Bad things.

No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon.

But Juliette has plans of her own.

After a lifetime without freedom, she's finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time—and to find a future with the one boy she thought she'd lost forever.

A dystopic thriller joins the crowded shelves but doesn't distinguish itself.

The way this novel was written was almost poetry - filled with metaphors - and I loved it up until the very end, when it kind of veers in an X-Men direction, though that part is still interesting.

Shatter Me is one awesome debut! There was a wicked awesome plot, a great main character, and one hot love interest. Put that all together and you have a book that you will be sad to miss.

While there are a few things that don't flow all that well, mostly because they tended to by more cookie-cutter dystopian, it was still a really fun read.

Most of the novel is written in stream of consciousness...Mafi also uses strikethrough in the text, crossing out some of Juliet’s thoughts and replacing them with others...The strikethrough is a bit distracting and it’s difficult to care for Juliette when we know so little about her, even if her circumstances are dreadful.

The character Juliette really spoke to me in how she pictures the world. Everyone saw grey skies and sick animals. She saw a world of possibilities; one of dangers and wonders. Shatter Me is an excellent book I would recommend to any teenager or adult.
