Synopsis

Appalled by the shooting of a colleague, for which he blames himself, DCI Michael Thackeray is packed off to a management conference at his old Oxford college. Back in Bradfield Laura Ackroyd is not sure she still has a future with Thackeray and Kevin Mower is in near meltdown after the botched operation ended in gun-shots. Even amongst the dreaming spires Thackeray discovers that nothing is as tranquil as it looks when his ex-tutor, now master, asks him to help find a colleague who has disappeared leaving a trail of human and financial destruction behind him. Neither at home or away are secrets and threats far away and as connections are unravelled lives as well as careers are on the line.
