Warsaw, Poland, in the late 1990s. A young American operative is caught up in a web of intrigue when a counteroperative breaks into her apartment wielding a gun, demanding information.

Going on the run, she is forced into an all-out race that across Europe, pursued at every step by operatives of multiple nationalities and unclear allegiances.

Her only friendly contact is an anonymous collaborator, a man fluent in the ways of both old clandestine operations and the new techno-spying of the mid-90s, a man she suspects she may know all too well. Finding him will require every ounce of skill she has, and will take her across the continent in pursuit of the answer to one of the greatest mysteries of the fall of the Soviet Union.
