Maga lives with Grandma in the swamp and though alone, never lacks for something to do. But when a boy moves in nearby, Maga is drawn into a world she doesn't quite understand.

Swamp Familiars is a short story based in the series of Swamp Children. While this short story focuses on Maga, the first novel of the series, A Swamp of Bones, follows Makani as she struggles to find her brothers and sisters before anyone else gets to them first.
