Synopsis

This book is made up of three parts. Part one consists of the photographic album of the Holy Land, complete with original commentary, that Giacomo Borgi created in 1868 for the king of Italy, adding modern-day photographs of the same site, with new descriptions. Part two was derived from the countless photographic plates created by Father Luigi da Pietrasanta, a Capuchin monk, to teach students about the New Testament, history of the church, scientific discoveries, and much more. The third, and final part, is an anthropological and historical study of the urban development of Jerusalem made by comparison of old photographs with ancient maps and plans.
