Jean Marzollo was born in Manchester, Connecticut in 1942. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1964, and received a Masters in Teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1965. After graduating, she taught for several years and then became involved in educational publishing. For twenty years she was the editor of "Let's Find Out," Scholastic's kindergarten magazine. She has written over a 130 books for children and has illustrated some of her own children's books starting in 2003. Her works include the I Spy series; Soccer Sam; Mama Mama/Papa Papa; Close Your Eyes; Happy Birthday, Martin Luther King; and the Shanna Show books. She was the recipient of the 2000 Rip Van Winkle Award presented by the School Library Media Specialists of Southeastern New York. She is married to Claudio Marzollo, a retired sculptor who has co-authored some of her children's science fiction and fantasy books. They have two sons, Dan and Dave. She resides in Upstate New York. Hans Wilhelm was born in Bremen, Germany in 1945. In his early teens he wrote and illustrated several stories, bound them into little books and sent them off to publishers, but they were always rejected. After graduating from art and business schools, Wilhelm moved to Africa, where he worked for a major corporation for several years. Still very much interested in the arts, however, he wrote and illustrated stories for fun. Eventually, he gave up his job and began traveling the world in search of a different kind of life. Wilhelm traveled for three years and lived in many places in Australia, Asia and Europe. He finally came to America to publish his stories and ended up settling down in Connecticut. Since then he has written and illustrated more than one hundredand fifty books for children and adults that have been translated into many languages. They have won numerous international prizes and awards and were developed into more than 80 television shows.
