Mathew R. Sgan's sports background includes playing varsity football and lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts and officiating interscholastic, intercollegiate, and club football, lacrosse, and soccer. He also coached club lacrosse while serving as an administrator at Brandeis University. In the course of writing the manuscript for this book, he was inspired to establish a museum to preserve the memorabilia, people, and memories associated with the development of sports in the Boston area. That idea grew into The Museum of Sports of New England which is now located at the T D Banknorth Garden in Boston. Mr. Sgan currently resides in Honolulu Hawaii with his wife of 46 years, Gin Sgan.
