Synopsis

Devora, the weaver, must make a net for the Fog, who promises not to take away her brother, a fisherman, if she complies. When her brother does not return from the sea the next day, Devora realizes that the Fog has not kept its promise, and that it is she who must go and rescue him.

When Devora hesitates, the fog promises that ``I'll not touch you, nor yours, nor any that you favor.'' The fog breaks the bargain, of course, but clever Devora has tied her baby sister's toy bell to a corner of the net and uses it to find and rescue her brother and the other villagers.
