Helen Bianchin worked as a legal secretary in her native New Zealand, then spent two years traveling and working in Australia, where she met and married her Italian-born husband in the tobacco farming town of Mareeba, North Queensland. It was a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree lifestyle change-cooking for seasonal workers, helping out on the farm and caring for hundreds of chickens, ducks and turkeys. Should she mention she also had to kill, clean and prepare chickens for the table? After three years Helen, her husband and their daughter moved to New Zealand, where they added two sons to their family, and, encouraged by a friend who enjoyed numerous anecdotes of Helen's life as a farmer's wife, the tentative idea of a romance novel emerged. "Write what you know...." So Helen created an Italian-born hero who owned a prosperous tobacco farm, meshing fact with fiction and authenticity!Six years after her first book was published, Helen and her family returned to Australia to settle in southeast Queensland where they currently reside. Their three children live close by, together with five young grandchildren. Helen's interests include a love of reading and watching movies and television. She enjoys catching up with friends, and she has a long-standing affection for animals, especially cats. At present count she owns two beautiful Birman, one of whom insists on sharing her desk for an occasional hour or two each day!Helen's career achievements include placings on the USA TODAY bestseller list, the Nielsen bestseller list and the Waldenbooks bestseller list. Her first book was published in 1975, and she is currently working on her fifty-seventh title.
