A broken heart and trouble with the law washes away Belle's dreams of a beautiful life with wealthy Lawrence Rinehart. She seeks refuge holed up in a secluded lighthouse to avoid jail.

Fred Logan, a determined ship captain penetrates her bitter wall of defense and persuades Belle to come out of isolation. Together, they face the consequences of WWI and the deadly influenza pandemic.

Is happiness ahead of them? Or will an old love rekindle when Lawrence's boat capsizes and Belle braves a vicious storm to save him? Will Divine Guidance give Belle courage to do what she must in order to avoid being dashed upon the sand dunes of love and life?
