JOHN ANDREWS has been a leading conservative voice in his generation since the 1960s. Today he is director of the Centennial Institute, a think tank at Colorado Christian University. In past years he served as President of the Colorado Senate, helped enact his state’s widely-imitated Taxpayer Bill of Rights, and founded the Independence Institute, a leading national voice for liberty.Andrews does daily commentary for Colorado Public Television, writes for the Denver Post, and originated Backbone Radio. As a for¬mer chairman of State Policy Network, he consults widely for legis¬lative leaders. Earlier John was a speechwriter for President Nixon, an appoin¬tee of President Ronald Reagan and President George W. Bush—and he ran for Governor of Colorado as the Republican nominee in 1990. He also launched TCI Cable News, served as editor of Imprimis at Hillsdale College, and was a senior executive with two Christian ministries.He grew up in the Colorado mountains, graduated from Principia College, and served as a US Navy submarine officer. He and Donna, his wife of 44 years have three grown children and a grandson.
