In 1947, twenty two years after the brutal rape of a young black woman, three white men finally face the consequences of their actions. When one of the rapists accuses the child born of the rape of sexually abusing his son, then burning him to death to hide his crime, the entire community is certain of his sin. A lone woman takes up the gauntlet, defending the young black man against the political machinations of the town Mayor, leading to deadly consequences.
