Fans will continue to enjoy Greg's ongoing efforts to come out on top, whether trying to secure a private bathroom stall at school or a date for the Valentine's Day dance.
-Publishers Weekly

Synopsis

Greg Heffley is not willing to be the odd man out.

A dance at Greg's middle school has everyone scrambling to find a partner, and Greg is determined not to be left by the wayside. So he concocts a desperate plan to find someone—anyone!—to go with on the big night.

But Greg's schemes go hilariously awry, and his only option is to attend the dance with his best friend, Rowley Jefferson, and a female classmate as a "group of friends." But the night is long, and anything can happen along the way. Who will arrive at the dance triumphantly, and who will end up being the third wheel?

The Third Wheel is a very entertaining book for ages 8 -12 and I enjoyed it very much. It is quite short and I managed to read it in 3 nights but it has a cleverly comic plot!

I'd already read all the other Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and I was incredibly disappointed with this one...That's all that happened, really. (There was a Valentine's dance and Greg found it hard to find a partner.) This is a humour book gone wrong.

Greg has the intent of doing the right thing, but something always comes up to undermine his efforts...The text is deliberately easy reading for young readers, however the content is built around middle school activities.

My question was if the book was meant for children older than 10 considering it’s about a Valentine’s dance and Greg’s love life I wonder if it was meant for a more mature audience and not younger people. That was my only concern and it isn’t major because other than that little question the book is FLAWLESS!
