Before her grandfather dies from injuries incurred in a suspicious car crash, asks Kate to complete his mission to save his home town. Despite her lack of crime fighting experience and a lack of clues to follow, Kate abandons career and romance and moves to Brands Crossing. There, she searches for incriminating documents which will expose her grandfather’s enemies, discovers a long-standing feud involving her family and another family who were founders of the town and confronts an anonymous rose-bearing admirer who stalks her in both real and virtual universes.
