...Gwen conveniently learns of her unique legacy at the very moment when she bravely steps into the big shoes her predecessors have left her. Fast-paced, edgy and imaginative enough

Synopsis

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy -- a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody's head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.

But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I'm determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why – especially since I should have been the one who died . . .

Jennifer Estep really hits a home run with her first YA title, Touch of Frost...Chicago summers begone! A Touch of Frost will make for great summer reading (and winter reading, too)!

Touch of Frost, definitely an engaging and engrossing read, it was fast paced, with an interesting take on different types of mythologies and imaginative. I was sorry the book ended, because I wanted more and will definitely be getting the next book.

It is entertaining and complete, and Gwen’s likable; it just doesn’t have that quality (uniqueness, emotionally resonant characters) that makes readers want to gobble it up. I chewed slowly on this one, but I enjoyed it.

A great start to a new young adult paranormal series. It has an entertaining blend of the normal angst experienced...combined with a mythic twist that alludes to talents and struggles that are both fascinating and alarming.
