Two historical novellas in one. "Turnbull's Slaves" is an adventure/romance inspired by the ill-fated British colony of New Smyrna in the 18th century, where 1,400 Minorcans made up the colony. All came over as indentured servants but ended up slavery. The story centers around young orphaned Miguel Ortagus and the girl he loves. They must deal with cruel slave drivers, dangerous animals, and hostile Indians.
Taino is about the people who greeted Columbus. The story centers around a young Taino's life, the dangers and hardships he and his bride-to-be face before, during, and after the arrival of Columbus. The story starts in the jungles of South America, and ends up in the Caribbean.
