Karen Katz studied at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome, Italy, and graduated from Yale School of Art. Her love of folk art and children's art has influenced all her children's books. Her most recent book, Counting Kisses, was a Children's Book-of-the-Month Club Main Selection and an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio 2002 Gold Seal Award winner. Karen, her husband, Gary, and their daughter, Lena, divide their time between New York City and Woodstock, New York.
