Sparks fly when the fiery Karen takes over Jack’s protective detail. He wishes she wanted to do more with his body than protect it.
One night over a game of cards, he decides to test the water and see if she’ll play. He gets much more than he hoped for when she cuffs him and starts a strip search. Just who will be doing the body cavity search?
I looked at my cards and smiled inside. Perfect. I slid two cards onto the discard pile and palmed the ace of spades her last hand. It went with my cards and the extra went into my sleeve. The replacement cards added another ace to my hand, so I laid down a full house, aces over queens, with her card prominently on top.
She threw her hand down in disgust and then froze. The look of shock on her face was almost comical. Her eyes narrowed and she snatched the offending ace off the table. “Where did you get this?”
Years of practice had given me a mask of innocence that was almost perfect. Butter wouldn’t have melted in my mouth as I stared at her with guileless eyes. “I dealt it.”
“Bullshit. This card was in my last hand.”
“There has to be some kind of mistake, officer. I would never cheat.”
Her eyes widened as my words sank in. The question in my mind was whether she would accept the offer or back off. I put the odds at fifty-fifty. She licked her lips hesitantly and I could tell the moment she made her decision.
Her bottle of beer almost tipped over as she surged to her feet, her face an unreadable mask. “You’ve got some serious balls trying to cheat a cop, grifter. Against the wall.”
I might’ve put a shocked expression on my face, but inside I was grinning. The desire I’d been keeping at arm’s length rushed in and my cock surged to life. I pushed my chair back from the table and stood up.
“There’s been some kind of mistake.”
“That’s right, and you made it.” She reached behind her, pulled out a pair of cuffs, and snapped one on my wrist. She spun me around and pressed me face first against the wall while she finished securing my wrists. They weren’t all that tight, thank God. I still couldn’t get loose, but my circulation was safe.
Her breasts pressed warmly against my back as she whispered in my ear. “I’m going to pat you down. You have anything you want to declare up front?”
