The two parts of the book dovetail nicely — not an easy feat in a series this vast. My one gripe is that the climax of the novel is somewhat glossed over.

Synopsis

Thinking About Books

Good

So Vortex is one of the better science fiction novels so far this year. I admit my view is coloured by my ability to remember what happened in the first two volumes. It’s entirely possible this might not read so well as a standalone. I’m therefore in the usual mode of recommending this without reservation if you’ve already read Spin and Axis.
