Synopsis

Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless—and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions at any cost…until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before.

Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation—or her ultimate damnation?

I enjoyed the wrap up though I did feel the overall story wasn’t as developed as I would expect from an author of Showalter’s caliber.

In short, Showalter nailed it. She tied into a world the paranormal romance readers already know (LOTU) and love and created two characters who we pull for.

All-in-all a fantastic start to a “newish” series that can be enjoyed by new Gena Showalter fans and longtime readers alike. The pace flows well, the action intense. The overall story arc is appealing, and I am looking forward to more.

A fabulous angel/demon world that was more complex than most - answering issues I've had with other such stories, Wicked Nights is grounded in a modern world.

I really hate to say this but this book just didn’t give me the “wow” factor that I wanted. I felt the hero was an alpha at times, then all the sudden he would do a 360 and be a beta.

There is a lot of backstory, which sometimes means things move slowly. This book started out with a bang and was really awesome for the first 1/3 or so, but it started to drag in the middle before picking back up at the very end.

...She lays a great foundation, stays true to her characters, and slips some funny one-liners in with the smoldering glances and heavy breathing. Definitely a keeper!
