Have you ever been in a love story that's never really ended? How can you marry your fiance when you realize you still love your ex?

Christa is getting married. She knows Barry Candler will be a good husband. But the memory of the first man she loved haunts her still...

Ethan Mallory used to be her world even when their worlds didn't mesh well together. He was poor so her rich father didn't want him for his only daughter. They were so in love with each other though and so happy with each other until he suddenly left her and their small town without a word, breaking her heart to a million pieces.

Years later -- and just days before her wedding -- she meets him again. This time, Ethan is a self-made man and not the poor man she used to know.

And he was obviously still in love with her.

Dare she let him back into her life, risk the wrath of her father and break Barry's heart? Will she let the man who'd hurt her more than anyone else in the world hurt her again?

Is it really a choice, when she never really loved anyone like she loved Ethan?

"YOU can't talk to me like that, Ethan! You threw away your right to do that when you left! I'm engaged to be married now, in case you didn't notice this ring I'm wearing. I'm to be married in two weeks. You're too late!"

She got up from the booth and hurried outside onto the sidewalk, not minding that rain was falling on he head and face and making her wet. Ethan followed just as quickly and caught up with her. Taking her arm and pulling her into the deserted doorway of a neighboring shop, he put his arms around her.

"You may be able to just walk away from words, Christa," he said, "but I challenge you to walk away from this!"

With those words, he leaned down and placed his mouth firmly on hers and kissed her in the way that she remembered.

And just like always in the past, her knees went weak at his kiss and she had to allow him to hold her up as she melted to him. There was a part of her that groaned, knowing that this would eventually happen now that he was here again. She never knew how much she missed his kisses until she started to return Ethan's kiss with a passion of her own. her eyes were closed, and she felt that it could have been easy, it would have been wonderful, to just let this kiss go on. To just stay safe in his arms and let whatever time would bring them to. Just like before, when she still felt so sure of his love. When she was so sure they were going to spend their lifetimes together...
