It’s definitely not the best kids book by author Carl Hiaasen, but it offers a solid adventure.
Full ReviewBut Hiaasen has a way of making even his young-reader books appeal to a much wider age range, perhaps because he has toiled in the mass-market newspapering world of The Miami Herald for more than 30 years.
Full ReviewBe assured that Carl Hiaasen always delivers an exciting, fast-paced story full of great characters and a unique sense of place.
Full Review"Chomp" is a delightful laugh-out-loud sendup of the surreality of TV that will be enjoyed by readers of all ages.
Full ReviewI get that Carl’s books are meant to be quirky, but Chomp was a bit TOO quirky for me.
Full ReviewCarl Hiaasen never fails to be entertaining and Chomp is no exception.
Full ReviewHiaasen’s journalistic background left its mark on the story, too, in that I almost believed the characters and the world he’d created were real.
Full ReviewThey also carry important environmental lessons for kids.
Full ReviewI can’t wait to put this on my shelf at school.

Full ReviewSatire is a powerful weapon in the hands of an expert, and you're more likely to laugh out loud than cry during this book, because the situations the characters get themselves into are so utterly off-the-wall.
Full ReviewStill, the book was amusing, the characters rooted in a true if cockeyed version of reality, and the plot was rich.
Full ReviewHumorous adventure tales just don’t get any more wacked…or fun to read than this.
Full ReviewNot as tightly constructed as Hoot and tamer than Flush, but still pretty hilarious.
Full ReviewThe book feels as if Carl Hiaasen has got really excited and written the whole thing in one night. It's a bit patronising...
