I really struggled to finish this book, though finish it I did!

Synopsis

“Her books are always fresh, romantic, inventive, and hilarious.”
New York Times bestselling author Susan Wiggs

Trust the always original, wonderfully fun Sandra Hill to do the wildly unexpected!  With Kiss of Pride, the New York Times bestselling author—best known for her steamy and hilarious romance novels featuring lusty Viking heroes and heroines—turns the paranormal romance genre upside-down…with the first in a seductive new series that features Viking vampire angels! A refreshingly unique, utterly satisfying love story that puts the “super” in supernatural, Kiss of Pride tells the tantalizing tale of a lady reporter who falls under the sway of a sexy Norse vampire on a thousand-year mission who might be an angel too good to be true…or too devilishly bad to resist!

At the end, I wasn’t convinced of their love. Why did Vikar really fall for Alex? I wanted to see more emotion from Alex concerning her lost daughter too. This book and I’m guessing this series is not for me.

Kiss of Pride’s character driven plot leaves out quite a bit of the action that would have added to the suspense of the story.

I appreciate the author attempting to give us the best of all worlds by combining Vikings, vampires and angels into one breed of uber-hero. (The next book's hero is a Viking vampire-angel Navy SEAL!) But it just didn't work for me.

I didn’t get much past the introductions to the story and characters to report on more of what happens, but I can say what irritated me the most was the gravity of the situations warred with the humor.

Kiss of Pride doesn't have a lot of action as it's more of a romance novel than an Urban Fantasy one.

The romance didn’t work out for me at all, though I’ll have to admit that at some point I did think they were cute. It’s like.. if about 70 percent of the book had been cut or rewritten, this might have been a very good book.
