Bottom line I never understood the how and why of this romance. It actually felt like the heroine’s lines and details got switched with some other heroine

The action scenes are interesting—those are probably the strong point of the novel. Unfortunately they bookend a lot of much less interesting material. I could find only one member of Morgan’s team that didn’t seem like a highly familiar stereotype....Elle Kennedy’s Midnight Rescue: A Killer Instincts Novel carried it to an illogical extreme.

This was a very enjoyable first novel in a new series. Each character was touched upon so we have a lot to look forward to.

Midnight Rescue is by all means an action-military-romance novel. Mrs. Kennedy does very deep and shows us how spies work with false names and disguises. I loved reading about this and it was so different from most other books of this genre. This is a fast paced, action filled, oh-my-god-what's-going-to happen-next ride and I never wanted to get off.

The plot action kept me reading this book, and if somewhat cliched, it still held my interest. I like a good action story even if the author isn't necessarily breaking new ground

I also felt like I never go to KNOW either of the characters. I feel like I knew things. I knew sums of parts, and could see the equation but I never felt like I could see the whole, like I could really humanize, or visualize, or grasp, Abby or Kane. I LIKED Abby, I kind of enjoyed Kane but not being able to really “see” them as full people, full characters.

For all of the action that this book should have had there were definite stops and starts in the story. It went from fast to slow and back again and when it was slow it was really slow.

This opening act in the Killer Instinct romantic suspense is an exciting thriller as the assassin and the mercenary fight, fight, and fight while falling in love. Fast-paced, fans who appreciate an in your face couple (thinks of the offspring) will relish visiting Columbia.
