“THIS IS NORA ROBERTS AT HER BEST.”—Associated ContentPassion and suspense ignite as Nora Roberts “pens an incendiary tale of murder, mayhem, and life on the rugged Western fire lines” (Library Journal).
The lackluster suspense combined with the drawn out, predictable plot made this a C+ read.
Full Review...Roberts fills Chasing Fire with details that really brings the story's world to life...Chasing Fire is a keeper.
Full ReviewThere were two things, though, that bothered me: The writing, and the villain.
Full ReviewI recommend this story to lovers of romantic suspense but who don't want a sweet romance.
Full ReviewOverall I really like and enjoyed Chasing Fire, I would highly recommend this to any romantic suspense or Nora Roberts fans.
Full Review...it’s a suspenseful read with just enough romance and humor to make me late to work because I couldn’t put it down.
Full ReviewAt every turn, Roberts makes Chasing Fire a book you will not want to put down.
Full Review...overall this story dragged for me. There's a lot of unnecessary information going on in this book.
Full ReviewAction, suspense, humor, red-hot sex, and heart-melting romance, and so much more make this a book that you won't want to miss.
Full ReviewAs the descriptions of fire fuel Chasing Fire, so do Roberts’s descriptions of Rowan and Gull allow the novel to grow and develop depth.
Full ReviewThe true treasure of Chasing Fire lies within the setting, relationships and characters, all of which were well worth delving into.
Full ReviewOnce again, Roberts makes the reader proud of heroic, strong women who know how to fight a fire, solve a mystery, and get a man all in one short summer.
Full ReviewSince I don't read Nora books for the suspense, the fact that it was predictable didn't really bother me. But this is definitely not the book for hard core romantic suspense readers.
Full Review...this one stands out for me. I definitely recommend it.
Full ReviewTo any seasoned reader, this book is fairly obvious fairly quickly. There is really only one person who fits in the antagonist's description. The person is hidden in plain sight.
Full ReviewDealing with heartache, guilt and issues that many of us deal with on a smaller level in our own lives, Roberts takes us on a journey of love and healing at the same time we navigate a tense and thrilling mystery.
Full ReviewThe thing about Nora Roberts is that I almost always enjoy her books—just never enough to want to buy her next one and let’s not even contemplate her backlist. Chasing Fire is no exception.
Full ReviewToo many fire-fighting scenes ultimately bog down the story and leave little room to build suspense. Halfway through, I found myself skipping ahead to learn more about the ongoing hunt for the killer, whose identity was easier to figure out than Roberts' usual villain.
Full ReviewPopular, prolific Roberts (The Search, 2010, etc.) delivers hair-raising smoke-jumping sequences along with the obligatory thrills, sex and a mystery even the greenest armchair sleuths will be able to solve.
Full ReviewWhat's great about Nora Roberts is picking up one of her books, you know what to expect...her books work for me and Chasing Fire was no exception.
Full ReviewThe love scenes will scorch so be sure to have your extinguisher handy.
Full ReviewA book full of smoke jumpers definitely makes for an incredible read!
Full ReviewThis well-researched and absorbing extreme adventure romance is sure to appeal wildly to a broad cross-section of readers.
Full ReviewThe story is thrilling and fascinating, there are two wonderful love stories in the book, the camaraderie between the smoke jumpers is amazing and their fight against the fire is breathtaking.
Full ReviewI had a feeling who was stirring up trouble and why. Nora ably kept me wondering about that feeling until the end...
Full ReviewIt makes for a shocking, sad and satisfying ending. Chasing Fire is a book to pick up now.
Full ReviewOnce again Nora Roberts affirms she is one of the best romantic suspense authors on the market
Full Review...just plain, the romance lacked a bit of spice and drama, the plot and mystery dragged a lot in the middle, and I think maybe a shorter book would have been better.
Full ReviewRoberts fans can expect another bestseller.
Full ReviewGull was a hero it was easy to fall for but I felt he deserved to find someone so much better than Ro.
Full ReviewThe mystery was good but not as suspenseful as some of Roberts' other books...Rowan...acted pretty childish
Full ReviewEach new Nora Roberts single title is a guaranteed treat.
Full ReviewI’m not sure if it’s fair to read a romance/suspense novel and then complain that the story drags a bit or that the whodunit is too predictable – it sort of comes with the territory, I suppose.
Full ReviewDespite being fascinated by smoke jumping, I found the romance a bit bland.
Full Review...I didn't know much about fire jumping, but Ms. Roberts makes it interesting even as she tells a compelling story.
Full ReviewIt has all the trademarks of vintage Nora Roberts, while being a fresh new story with an interesting backdrop and is a very enjoyable read.
Full Review...the book started feeling really long. Rowan and Gull’s relationship seemed to be in a holding pattern while they continued to work on the fires...
