“Unfinished Business” leaves some unfinished business of its own when it comes to making this wish list a reality. Anyone as versed in foreign policy as Ms Slaughter knows that hope is not a strategy.
The book's audience, then, shouldn't just be worried womankind. It should go right into the hands of (still mostly male) decision-makers.
It’s just a shame that when it comes to the areas addressed in her original article Slaughter has rested on her laurels, because it leaves Unfinished Business feeling rather, well, unfinished.
...yet on reading “The Chessboard and the Web” and listening on YouTube to the lectures Slaughter gave, I found myself repeatedly yearning to ask her how the grand strategy she advocates would apply to these political realities.
