After a passenger is seriously injured in an apparent fall from an open trolley, Dispatcher John Erlanson blames himself for the mishap. Although he was not a member of the trolley's crew, he concludes a series of routine decisions he had made contributed to the accident. An investigation is not able to pinpoint the cause. John spirals into depression. The Spirits of several trolley museum volunteers who had recently passed away help John discover the cause of not only the accident but other eerie occurrences that had happened at a particular spot along the museum's right of way.

Mike Brenner visited the Shore Line Trolley Museum in East Haven, CT with his dad more than sixty years ago. Although he grew up with a young boy's interest in model trains, he never again thought of trolleys and their rich history until he moved to East Windsor, CT soon after retirement. There, he joined the CT Trolley Museum and discovered his passion for century-old electric traction. He became a licensed Motorman and regularly volunteered in the museum's restoration shop.He worked alongside Kelly Buffum, the daughter of Susan Buffum, a published author. Kelly, who has also written several books, and her mom encouraged Mike to try his hand at creative writing. The result was "Rails to the Light Side," a work of fiction about paranormal activity at the museum.Mike now resides in the Twin Cities area with his wife, Suzanne. He is active as a Motorman at the MN Streetcar Museum in Minneapolis.
